After yesterday's thunderstorms, cedar apple rust is very active on eastern red ...cedar. Orange, telial "horns" have emerged from galls. Inside these horns are teliospores, which will germinate to form a structure called a basidium. The basidium will produce 4 basidiospores which are the spore stage which will infect apple leaves and fruit. This also affects hawthorn trees.
